City progresses with new sidewalks and speed humps in the Atlantis area

Mayoral Committee Member for the City’s Urban Mobility Directorate, Councillor Rob Quintas joined the Road Infrastructure Management team in Atlantis yesterday, 1 March 2023 to see the progress of the new sidewalks and other traffic calming measures in the area. 

The City's Urban Mobility Directorate is currently installing a number of sidewalks and traffic calming measures in the Atlantis area.

This work forms part of ward allocations to provide sidewalks and traffic calming measures along the City's road network and is currently taking place from Monday to Friday between 07:00 and 17:00. 

'It was good to see that the team has made much progress since commencing with the works earlier this month. I was especially happy with the new footway being installed along Gouda street leading to the Atlantis Skills School, as this will greatly improve the road safety for these learners commuting to school. I ask that residents in Atlantis remain patient for the remainder of the construction phase. Our intention with the sidewalks and traffic calming interventions is to make the roads safer for all road users, especially the most vulnerable among us like children, the elderly, and those with special needs,' said Councillor Rob Quintas, the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility.

Residents can expect sidewalks and traffic calming measures to be installed along the following roads:

• Gouda Street (sidewalks and speed hump)

• Grosvenor Street (sidewalks)

• Gardenia Street, Avondale (sidewalks)

• Swift Street, Robinvale (sidewalks)

• Swawel Street, Robinvale (sidewalks)

• Yew Street, Pella (sidewalks)

• Juniper Street, Pella (sidewalks)
